Grenada was very nice last year for the cricket ,very laid back chilled place with a good balance of local bars in town and along the waterfront heading south out of town .superb beaches .

I didn't take offence - even if it was meant.

I would go to Mexico instead - much better and safer. Found the locals in Jamaica all terrible. Bad service and the only thing they are interested in is dollar tips. I would never go back. Unsafe to go outside the hotel complex most of the time as we were just hassled constantly by locals wanting money.

I fully endorse what Claret Badger says

Don't bother with Montego Bay go to Negril

I went with my missus to The Half Moon Club in Montego Bay for a week, it was very expensive & we were really disapponted (Dangerous to leave the complex & full of American yuppies abusing the wildlife etc)

We had one great excursion though to Negril (It's was a long & bumpy road then & probably still is but worth it!)

A couple of years later my missus booked a surprise fortnight at Beaches Resort in Negril. It was absolutely brilliant, totally different from Montego Bay.
You could walk around freely & chat with the locals who were a real laugh

The only downside was that the restaurant was always packed with really fat Americans who did nothing but eat from morning till night. The locals would suck into them like fleas on a dog, which we found quite funny (calling them Jamericans etc)

So Negril yes Mo Bay big swerve!

Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
I loved Negril in Jamaica - even got married on a beach there

didn't do a resort as I'm not a chumby
hired a car - did some inland driving - without satnav - didn't feel endangered at all (except losing the car down some of the MONSTER pot holes)

But Montego bay would be shit tbf - it's like Clacton but more black people with machetes

My son loved Cuba.

Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
Had a fortnight on the beach in Jamaica last year - it was lovely. It was full with Canadians coming down for a handful of days to get married who could be quite irritating, but not on the same level as Americans.

Did Cuba a couple of years ago as well - that was absolutely lovely. Havana was somewhere I'd always wanted to go and it didn't disappoint, but as with the Bali thread I'm not sure how much kids would like Jamaica or Cuba unless they're happy with the Kids Club etc.

Cancun I full of yanks but if you avoid spring break they're OK.
LOADS to do with kids. Tbh its more Luke Miami than a Caribbean holiday.

Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
can't remember the name of the hotel i stayed in but there were quite a few and we went on a boat trip for the day and swam with dolphins etc and picked up at a couple of other hotels and there were a lot of americans we picked up then. suppose different times of year and different hotels cater for different nationalities.

For beaches, you can't beat Antigua or Aruba

Its got loads of shermans there!!!!

there are better islands to go to in the caribbean than jamica and cuba imo.

depends on what you are after from a holiday as to what island to go for, and your budget

Mr Polite 9:13 Mon Jan 18
Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
Another vote for Cuba.

Beautiful island, interesting due to the communism and safe outside your complex

Plus no yanks (yet)

Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
Barbados is lovely and they like the Brits . Hotel Savannah is very informal, if u want to spoil yourself stay at the crystal cove. Is the o .p taking kids ? Tbh, there's not loads to do , but if u enjoy snorkelling and the water and relaxing in the sun u can't go wrong . I want to go back to st James Antigua , paradise.

Concur with Joe

Enjoyed Cuba, unsophisticated charm, stunning beaches

Give Easter Break a miss if the resort is a favourite of the Yanks - their kids go mad on cheap drink and getting served

Fancy Barbados myself
